We can normally run courses at any time in the year. If single people or couples would like to make up a group of four, let us know which dates you could come on and we will put you in touch with each other. Course details The Courses include all the basic traditional methods used to make, change and print an etching, more recent techniques which allow a more direct approach to the medium, and related techniques with which etching can be combined. They run from Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm. Students can use the studio in the evenings. The groups are small, 4 participants, so enough attention can be given to each student. The courses are therefore suitable for beginners as well as those with printmaking experience. Less experienced students are initially encouraged to learn by experimenting and are given a series of prepared test plates to try out each of the processes after they have been demonstrated. All students are given whatever technical assistance or advice they need to develop their images and to print them. The course fee in 2008 is £290 or 380 euros includes: tuition 9.30 am to 4.30 PM - use of all equipment, tools, and all basic materials (ink, pigments, muslin, solvents, oils etc.) - and Refreshments. Students are welcome to use the studio in the evenings, unsupervised. Accommodation is available here at Villerousse. The courses are run by Martin Ware MA RCA, a practising printmaker and lecturer since 1972. Hastings Etching Workshop was started in 1980, moved to Battle in 1990 and to France in 2004.
